My first instinct is to replace it, but yeah, you’d probably be fine. Maybe fill it with epoxy then sand it? If you have the cash, just replace it and you won’t have to worry.

Maybe a bit of jb weld putty, smooth it out. It will probably outlast the aluminum, that stuff is as hard a steel and is very durable. I’d give it a shot, it’s a back wheel on what looks to be a commuter bike, so if you get a flat, it’s not crazy dangerous.

When that fails it will be big and it will not take long.

Sorry but that’s a new rim needed.

Replace. You’ll be destroying tubes and tires first or having that wheel fail on you and it won’t be pretty when it does

  5. After a big crash because of a little screw missing on my front mudguard, I would not risk it. Saying that it is a back wheel so if it fails it might not be as dramatic, but I would be concerned about shards going into my calves, as it will fail at some point.

This looks a bit more severe and prone to crack due to fatigue. By the time you will have filed the root of that defect to make it quite round there is nothing much left of the side wall. Replacement rims are cheap

  7. It looks like someone already took a file to it.. How does something like that happen?
