day 71 of biking from Norway to South Africa! #bikepacking #biketour #adventuretravel #cyclist #biketravel

Welcome back to day 71 of biking from Norway to South Africa. We are currently on our three-month detour in the UK to allow our shenan visa to reset so we can continue making progress south. But for right now, we are biking to Edinburgh and we are making our way to the Peaks District. And so I’m super excited to get back into nature. We had this very funny detour on our ride today where we had to go down this flight of stairs. They were very steep and narrow and I was clutching my brakes for dear life. But once we got down to the bottom, we got to ride on this really lovely trail with no cars, which is my favorite. especially some of the traffic patterns here in England can be a little hectic. So, when we get a path with no cars, it’s like such a treat. Um, then the path turned onto the canal. And I also love riding next to the canal cuz seeing the boats is just so fun. It’s like a daily ritual at this point to stop at all the blackberry brambles that we pass. Um, so we stopped and had a little snack. I literally can eat so many of these and always have to stop myself before going overboard. Um, it started to rain a little bit, but honestly it felt really nice. Like we were sweating from climbing some hills and it was a light rain and so it honestly Yeah. felt really good. And towards the end of the day, we got treated to another really lovely section of trail. We had one really big downhill followed by a few pretty steep uphills, but I think that just means we’re making it to the Peaks District. And we started to see some of the beautiful landscape that we have in store for the next few days, and I got so excited. Our accommodation for the night is a $15 hostel stay in a literal castle. When we pulled up to this, I genuinely couldn’t believe it. It was so beautiful. And I had an eightperson dorm room all to myself, which was such a treat. And I’m so excited for tomorrow.
