Hi everyone, I'm trying to buy a front crate for my sister's bike (like this one) and I'm getting very confused.

I think what I understand is that I need a rack to put on the bike first, and then I put the crate on top? The one I found said that they need a MIK adapter plate, is that a third piece I would need to buy?

Also, how can I make sure that they are compatible? Is MIK a pretty widely used system? Anything else I need to be careful about (dimensions, weight, etc.) or are those pretty interchangeable?

Any advice would be very appreciated!

It looks like the MIK is a rack that special accessories clip into. Here: [https://mikclickgo.com/en](https://mikclickgo.com/en)

    * It looks like there is a MIK CARRIER plate that makes any rack an MIK rack. You don’t need it if you have an MIK rack.
    * Then there is an MIK ADAPTER plate that makes any accessory clip into an MIK rack. You don’t need that if you have an MIK accessory.

I don’t think the Basil crate will clip directly into a MIK rack, but I’m not 100% sure. You may need the adapter plate to fit an MIK rack. OR, it may fit an MIK rack and you need the carrier plate if you don’t have an MIK rack. I suspect it’s just a regular crate, but IDK.

Most people don’t use quick connect systems with racks, but they’re probably very nice. You could also attach the Basil crate to any rack with zip ties if you want, but it wouldn’t be removable.

  2. Do you need to be able to quickly fit and remove the crate?

If not just use zip ties and/or nuts and bolts and fixing plates.

If you dont need it to be quickly removable the simplest option might be a steel basket that supports itself. I like the wald 1392 though there are lots of alternatives.
