Damn sorry you had a close call! Glad you didn’t get hit though 🙂

Always ride to the far left of those bike lanes. Take the next lane if someone isn’t fully parked in the line.

Almost word-for-word the same thing that came out of my mouth 2 days ago when I nearly got left-hooked. Didn’t even consciously decide on the words, it just naturally came right out of my mouth lol

Glad you didn’t get hit, this is why I ride either on the leftmost edge of those “”bike lanes”” or go like 5mph.

I ride opposite of traffic in those bike lanes. If a driver sees you coming, he’s not likely to door you while looking at you.

  5. At least these are driver side door bike lanes. I’ve found that bike lanes between parked cars and the sidewalk which are supposedly “protected” are way more dangerous. I think it’s because passengers are less likely to drive/be aware of surroundings.

These lanes made me value auto-folding mirrors. If it’s folded, you’re (more or less) safe.

  7. As a bonus, at least where I live, the police will put the blame on you for “not controlling your vehicle” so when in doubt I’d rather use the car lane beacuse it will cost me less.

Was this Sunday morning/early afternoon? I was having breakfast just around the corner at Eggy’s.

  9. Bike lanes are shit in general. In all countries. Made by car drivers for car drivers.
