I’m an all terrain user. Commuting in hilly or mildly mountainous areas, getaways in the woods. Moderate but likely slower trail use. Curbs, roads, trails, gravel, mountains, shortcuts through the woods, whatever.

I’m probably a bit rougher and clumsier so durability is a MUST. I’ve got some motor skill problems with my body, but please don’t gate-keep me over it. My old Giant has held up 30 years, but it’s too small and needs major overhaul- not worth it. I need something more modern disc brakes, fork etc.

Both of these are $950-1000. I’m 5’11” (180cm) 160lbs (72kg)

Trek seems well built. Coil spring. 10 speed shimano cues. I’m in between 2 sizes. Does this matter?

Specialized comes with slightly better parts? 12 speed shimano deore. Air spring. I’m a clear large size so fit is easy. Wider gears for hills, and can shift multiple gears.

-What would I notice with coil vs air fork or cues vs deore? Maintenance/durability/damage resistance/etc.?

Is there much difference? I’m not as familiar with these brands or the modern tech. I’ll do my own maintenance, may want to tweak and upgrade a bit, and am price sensitive. Thank you for your time.
