Hi everyone, I’m Cal from the Vmore Outdoors YouTube channel. Today on this beautiful day, Lloyd and I are cycling around Pool Harbor, the second biggest uh natural harbor in the world after Sydney. The route will take us from Swanich through Wem Upton and into Pool before uh taking the ferry across and uh heading back into Swanich. So uh hope you uh enjoy the video and uh let’s get riding. We’ve taken the back road out of Swanage and it’s uh undulating to say the least. I’ve got the uh electric bike on eco mode and uh it’s uh doable, but poor Lloyd on his uh mechanical bike, he’s got to work hard at it. Beautiful country lane though and obviously much more safe and pleasant. What a fantastic view. And that’s Castle in the distance. So this is the uh steam train at the uh Nordon train station on the uh Swanich railway line. This is really nice landscape. Where whereabouts are we? On Country Park. I’ve heard your parents uh mention it. P Castle in the background. Looks like nice uh trail running territory. getting a bit swampy now. Seems to be a market going on. Lloyd’s gone to the uh bakery stall. I wonder what he’s uh buying. Sausage roll. Nice. Sadly, while Lloyd uh scoffs down his sausage roll, this is what I have. So, we’ve just come into Upton Country Park and there’s a section of compacted gravel and sands which isn’t too bad really. But um so out of uh WA right up to uh Lichard Minster near Hutton. Oh, it wasn’t pleasant. I mean there sections of uh cycleways but it’s not it’s not continuous. It’s not easy to spot or use. Get on, we get off. Um, but once you reached Linster and through Upton, it was actually very uh very pleasant. But coming back to uh Upton Country Park, this is Very nice. Do a little detour to a bench. So behind me is the first proper view of the harbor because up until now we’ve been uh cycling slightly in land from the harbor following uh country lanes at least up until uh Wear and then Wear um Upton are um just well urbanized. So the route that we took is uh is set uh set inland from the from the harbor. What we’re looking at is called Horses Bay and it’s just off the main harbor. You can see in the distance of there is pool. So Louis is just saying that when he was a kid living in pool, he uh rode along here quite a lot because that was his uh way into town on his bike. And you’ll have noticed that we’re now on a tarmac section. years ago, Lloyd and I attempted uh to do this route, albeit uh in the uh anticlockwise direction and uh we got as far as pool. The weather wasn’t particularly good and uh I wasn’t feeling particularly well either. So combination just meant that we got to pool and something to eat and then just headed back. So, uh, yeah, it’s nice to finally, uh, get to do this route. So, this is where Lloyd would have uh, joined the uh, path, I presume. Is that right? Yeah. Yeah. It’s gotten windy. In the distance there’s uh some orange boats, the uh signature Iron Eli lifeboats and behind uh in the building behind the boats is the Iron and Eye headquarters. This is the Iron and Eye headquarters I was talking about. That’s the uh all weather lifeboat center there. This is the uh Sunseeker factory. the headquarters for it. I’m getting quite hungry now. It’s 12:00. It’s past 12:00. So, we’re going to find a place at uh Balk Key to uh grab a bite. Boston seekers there. Mom, do a picture of this. That’s house. I think the rock fish is where we ate when we attempted and failed to do the uh to cycle around Pearl Pearl Harbor around Pearl Harbor. Oh, believe it or not, I couldn’t find anything uh appealing at along the key. So, I’m going to dig into this culinary delight. But I do have a chai latte to go with it. Hi. Can we still buy tickets for this ferry, please? Uh, two two bikes, two adults, obviously. Uh, no, one way, please. Do you accept uh card payments? Yeah. Yeah. Fantastic. Thank you. Thank you very much. Have a nice day. We’ve had brilliant timing uh today. We got to uh cough just in time to uh see the steam train pass. And uh we’d have to wait for the ferry. Ticket at the back. Yeah, the wife’s got it. Wife’s got it. Thank you. You can’t leave me behind. Thank you. How did she? Yeah. You like bit colder. Yeah. Thank you. cycle there on the left. There’s that smuggness again as we overtake them. They’ll be zooming past in a minute, though. Since we left the ferry, we’ve gone through Studland and started moving away from the harbor and uh made our way back to Swanich And uh it’s been an absolutely lovely ride. Um there is a section um coming out of Wear which if I was to do it again, I’d at least try and find an alternative route. But other than that, it’s been uh very pleasant riding. If you want to do the ride yourself, I’ve uh put a link to the roots in the description below. So, if you do the ride, um be great if you let me know what uh what you think of it. For now, though, it’s time to get uh some uh food as we’ve had no luck, unfortunately, in finding anything palatable and available today. So, uh that’s where I’ll leave you. And uh hope to see you in my next video. But until then, safe riding. Take care.

  1. Great journey and video. The Upton Country park track along the harbour to Poole was quite often my Saturday morning ride, very reminiscent. Thanks for showing my drawing. X
