I just picked up my bike today. Since I can't ride it today unfortunately, I'll just try to explain how much I love this bike and how amazing the purchasing process was. Feel free to skip this entire part. It's basically me rambling how happy I am and how excited I am about this new bike. I felt like a little kid, the day before Christmas. Even tho I knew what was coming the next day.
I fell in love with the Bianchi Impulso when it came out, which was around the end of 2023 I think.
I've been going back and forth on getting the Impulso Comp with mechanical GRX ever since that day. My only issue: I've never really been an 'N+1' kind of guy. Once I got my first gravel bike, I got rid of my road bike and my MTB. I was not ready to let my Wilier Jena go. Not just because I think it's an amazing bike, but also because it was a birthday gift from my parents.
A month ago I walked into the bike store for something small, and there it was: the Impulso RC. This was the first time I saw it in person. I tried to talk myself out of it: do I 'need' 2 gravel bikes? I tried to look for more sensible bikes, even asked for the help of the r/gravelcycling sub (they were amazing by the way). But there was no way out of it. I dug deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole. Found one online with a 10% discount and immediately called the store for a test ride.
I did the test ride Friday evening, they even kept the shop open after closing hours so I could come in after work (without me having any purchasing history over there). They promised me they would have my bike ready the next day, around 1pm: They did some final checks, swapped the stock Pirelli's with Tufo's and made them tubeless. The bike came with a Garmin mount with an integrated go pro mount from factory. But this morning I realized that I wouldn't be able to put a bell on the aero bars. I called them and asked if they had one of those 'hidemybells' or an alternative and if they could put it on the bike.
When I picked up the bike they installed a hidemybell with wahoo adapter and GoPro mount. Not only did I get it for free, but they also gave me the original mount back.
So I finally joined the 'N+1' club, because my Wilier isn't going anywhere, at least not without me.
I couldn't be happier. Or maybe I could… If only I had time to take the bike on its maiden voyage today.
