Not all the best gravel in New England is in VT, NH, and ME. Along the CT/RI border is a plethora of dirt roads culminating in Pachaug State Forest (CT) and Arcadia Wildlife Management Area (RI). Both state parks have miles and miles of fire roads, single track, and jeep trails. The only cars you'll see will be in the parking lot, It's worth a trip.
