My Hyper Carbon x

It started off as a 21 (3×7) speed 26er hardtail and is now a 1×12 650b gravel bike. Tried converting it using a mix of different quality parts.

If the handlebar looks funny, thats because it’s a carbon clone of the surly corner bar. Recently switched to 47mm pathfinder pros from the 2.2 racekings that came with the wtb wheelset. Went for the cheapest hydraulic brakes shimano makes. Tried to keep it shimano and picked deore but had to use a sram nx cassette (wheelset wasnt shimano microspline). 36 tooth chainring was the biggest I thought I could fit. Went with an inexpensive chinese carbon fork. Decided deore xt shifter, kmc gold chain, and tires were the parts I’d go higher quality on. The only parts left stock are the seat, stem, and brake rotors.

Would it have been wiser to just buy a bike instead? Probably, but this is way more unique. (If I mention where I originally got the bike, this sub might explode)

Also, how much of a cycling sin is it to mix sram and shimano and are gold chains still a trend?
