Bikeländ Eberbach on the HARDTAIL… It’s as bad as you think… // Good times with the crew

Join me on a wild ride through Bikeländ Eberbach (with @JayRidesTrails @kallisebbel @trailsturmer ) , where things didn’t exactly go to plan! I set out to shred some of the best trails in the Odenwald on my hardtail MTB – but not one, but two mechanical failures tried to end the ride early. 💥

After my hardtail breaks down (twice!), I end up borrowing a semi-functional backup bike to finish the mission. Despite the setbacks, I hit some of the most popular and flowy trails in the region:

Begleite mich auf eine verrückte MTB-Session im Bikeländ Eberbach, die ganz anders verlief als geplant! Eigentlich wollte ich mit meinem Hardtail ein paar der besten Trails im Odenwald shredden – doch nach zwei Defekten am Bike wurde es abenteuerlich. 💥

Nachdem mein Hardtail zweimal den Geist aufgibt, leihe ich mir ein halb funktionierendes Ersatzbike, um die Tour trotzdem zu beenden. Trotz aller Pannen ging’s auf einige der bekanntesten und flowigsten Trails des Bikeparks:

Welcome back to a fantastic spring day. And while I’m waiting for the other guys to arrive, well, it’s just Mark and I doing the early shift. We’re dropping into a couple of trails on our way down. And then we’re meeting up with Jay and Kalis and Thomas and the rest of the crew. And because I’ve decided to play it a little bit differently today, I’ve decided to break out that little bad boy over there. My 26 inch hard tail with my Mazaki bomber on the front there. 170 ms of coil travel on a hard tail in the most obuse of builds of a bike in the history of the world. [Laughter] And I’m going to be riding behind Mark because uh like I said, first time in a long time. Oh. Oh, [ __ ] gears. Come on, buddy. You [Laughter] [ __ ] Yep. Oh, that is a very cut out. Must get lost, Mark. Oh, [ __ ] Uh, more compression damping. Uh, more rebound damping. [Laughter] Yeah. Oh, yeah. Got my hot tail cut. Jesus, Mark, this is the biggest rock in the world you threw in my way there. Oh [ __ ] Made it. How the [ __ ] was that? Not an accident. Oh, [ __ ] hell. I don’t know how I managed to not crash there. Yo. Oh no. That’s what that was. [ __ ] Book and roll. Let’s hope this goes a little bit better than the last one. No, this one’s all right. Too much on the brakes, Billy. Too much on the brakes. Oh goodness. This is the styler end order. Oh [ __ ] Oh. Oh. Oh, I [ __ ] that up so bad. And now Marky’s got away from me. Oh god. Okay, this corner is Yeah. So dusty. And here it starts. the steep bit that I forgot about when I decided to ride these trails with Marky. It was this um fork sending through this steep terrain here. I’m really battling to get the fork the way I want to be pushing back against my hands. A lot to be said for this, but I’m used to that 140 that I got on my other bike that’s running at about a trillion PSI because it’s only a 140. And I ride that bike like it’s definitely not a trail bike. Okay, held it. Hey, D or last piece. Mark is still heading up the works because this is definitely not the best operation for a Oh, let me just do that. Ah, yeah, that’ll work. So, I’m properly old schooling it slippery because I’ve lost too many parts of my other bike. I’m on my second bike of the day thanks to Kalis who’s on his new bike of the day which we’ll talk about in a second. I’m continuing my luck with everything mechanical. And now dropping my post is a is a a twoman job. It takes two hands to work this and one person to push the seat down. And now I’m ready. All right, let’s see how this bike goes. Wow. What is going on? [Laughter] Oh [ __ ] Whoa. Oh hey yeah can fall again. All is good. Okay the scale sign. Come all is good. lumber. Woo! Hey, look, a [Laughter] bomb. Oh, [ __ ] me, man. This thing is a piece of [ __ ] You can lock enough manage. [Laughter] snow monkey. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Thank you. [Applause] I love that piece. I hate it and love it at the same time.
