Some heavy crosswinds and one mistake causes a massive crash in the tour to Hungary stage two before a big bunch sprint once again. We’re going from Brem to Seof uh in the we’ve left Budapest yesterday and now we’re around Lake Baloton going then finishing south of that with a flat sprint. A couple of more hills than yesterday but still it’s going to be a big sprint for the bowhouses gron of the world. Uh but another opportunity for the local teams to get in the breakaway when the race started. Of course, Little Trek for Toidenberg, Red Bull, Bora Hansro, Van Pppel is now in the leaders jersey and Aana for Maloelli, even UAE for Milano. Frankly, they don’t want anyone going too many riders going in the breakaway except from the the local teams or move from Fllanders Bwaza and indeed that is what happens. The break pretty much just goes straight away. the guys that wanted to be in it. So, Mr. Pelican is in once again. You see Kish Marshalling checking who’s going in this breakaway and we have those uh GPM sprints on top of the the little towns which is pretty nice. So, good weather, a little bit hazy. Uh Tom Pidcock took the day off from the Jurro Italia, flew over here in that plane, I do believe, did a loop-de-loop and then went back for the Neapolitan stage. But we enter this zone and see how the the wind and in the trees and the uh bushes on the side of the road, heavy crosswind coming from their left shoulder puts the rise in the gutter and then a huge crash at high speed happens. I’ll rewind it, show you what happened. Pretty much 80% of the bunch is either involved in the crash or caught behind it. Van Poppel was unscathed. Look at the grass by the side of the road. You can see how gusty it was. And that’s what happens and causes this crash. The Flanders guys, they’re trying to create an echelon, which is fair enough. Van Popples there. Crosswind splits are about to happen. And then I’m not sure the Red Bull Bora Hounds Grow Rider if it’s Massu, but he gets his wheel caught or he goes into the gravel and then tries to steer back in. Tries to steer back in and then isn’t able to and then basically yeah, comes down uh in front of the Pelaton. And then Pablo Torres is this UAE rider here. Now, I believe he is he suffered a concussion from what I read, but is otherwise okay. But he goes down so hard he like jack like just goes pile driven straight into the ground face first and then he has another rider land on top of him. Just a horrible crash and uh hopefully as many riders as possible are okay. Uh Frederick Vanal I believe was heavily involved. Hope he’s okay and they all can recover soon. Never nice to see but the race goes on. Jacolula controlling again I think with Wiggins for the sprint of Dylan Kronov and the Dutch Natty Champ. We have some more crosswind action but Van Pppel he’s lost Wford. He’s lost half his team and he’s having to sort of stay in position himself the whole of this final despite there being some crosswinds uh in and out of these villages. The breakaway was on about a minute with 47ks to go. And we see actually the UAE team Emirates with Ruy, Olivivera, Van Pppel, Jaco and Milano shouting trying to split it once again. I think Milano was a little bit cooked and that’s why Ora stops. Aana were behind. Well, Vad was pulling to make it and then Aana take over actually. And yeah, this doesn’t go anywhere, but you can see the trees how the the leaves are blowing. There was heavy crosswind but after that shenanigans everyone pretty much accepts that we are going to go to a sprint and that’s what happens. The breakaway is pretty much caught at 30ks to go. Balash Rossa the last rider in that breakaway. Jaco Q365 Aana were all at the front to make sure that when that break is caught there aren’t any new anticipation moves. The fire hydrant or the fire brigade are out. I think it was a little wasn’t that warm. I mean, Gibbons has got his his arm warmers on, so it can’t have been that warm. 6.5ks to go. Van Popull has to freelance this whole sprint. He’s in the yellow jersey. He’s freelancing, finding his way in. He finds Gronovan’s wheel. Timon Toitenberg is in the green jersey for Little Trek. I believe he nearly gets chopped there as the rider of number 205 comes into him. Bow House. Actually, it’s Brut me. So, number 42 is fighting for the will of Franen who has a good lead out in front of him. got three riders. He’s got Lukamesh gets to launch him. 1.3ks to go that, you know, he’s looking sitting really, really pretty with these bends. He’s got plenty of firepower ahead of him. And they rattle through the riders. Fshide takes the second last pull. Finally, Frog’s getting the lead out he wanted. But look at Evo Oliver. Look at him bring Milano up into position in front of Brutso. Serit is trying to do the same thing on the right hand side for Malachelli. But the lead out of Volshide’s strong and then you still got me gets to go in front of Chronovan. But yeah, Bruno brutes Messo gets chopped out of it by those two. Evo Olivera flicks Milano onto the wheel of uh Danny Van Pppel. Great lead out from him. Mez gets goes 300 m to go. Coron if he can launch at 200 or less after being kept in such a good position. He should win. Goes at 200 190. He doesn’t. He seems to stall. Van Pa comes out of the wheel. Toidenberg coming fast to the right hand side. Capeki getting a bit boxed. Milano really boxed. He was coming fastest. Look at Milano. He could have won this sprint. I think he was the fastest here by far. And uh yeah, Gran just not quick enough. But Milano makes a big mistake here. He puts his wheel to the left side of Van Pppel. If he keeps his wheel open to the right side, he wins this sprint. But because he goes left and then Gronovan sprints left and then there’s the concertina effect. Van Poppple’s in the wheel and Van Pppel boxes him. Milano is now boxed. He couldn’t open to that right hand open space where Tidenberg opened. If he was where Titenberg was, Milano wins. So got boxed in. Van Pppel though really really impressive to win two days in a row. Today just a straight up sprint with no lead out. Does the lead out himself using the Jacob trainer head and then Toidenberg. It was Capeeki then Milano Rutso. I think this top 10 needed to be updated. But here is what Van Pop had to say after the stage again. Vamp congratulations the second victory but but I guess it’s a bittersweet. day for the team. Uh you lost half half of your team. So uh what are the emotions right now? Yeah, of course. I just hear uh one guy went away with the helicopter. So that’s uh really a pity. What you say? It’s a mixed feelings, but uh yeah, good recovery to my teammates, but we have to go on. And um super happy with the win. Actually, I kept calm, really calm, and we just gave it a go after this crash, of course. And I beat Dylan uh quite proper and that was quite cool because uh yeah, he’s a top sprinter and uh yeah, I’m I’m really surprised actually. Um what did you see from that crash? Um it seemed like you were you were at the front straight after it happened, but um did you notice I guess you noticed because 30 yard riders crashed, but what were the what were the reasons? Do you know that? ah top spot did a echelon and uh yeah it was a good uh moment to to make a echelon and then uh yeah I heard a lot of noise behind me and then actually everybody was committed like okay guys let’s wait because uh it’s it’s it’s really danger of uh important to wait now and uh then uh uh racing is not that important anymore if there are a lot of uh injured guys know I can position really well and then Dylan went and I was waiting waiting Normally I am too enthusiastic and try to come over him but now I wait perfect with the headwind was uh was uh yeah amazing and what I said like mixed feelings but super happy for a win with the team and I really didn’t expect this today also terms of GC he’s now the GC leader by uh 8 seconds ahead of Yanos Pelican who’s been taking those bonus seconds in the break every day but these are all the sprinters they’re all going to get dropped on the hills and climbs coming up. Hope you enjoyed the recap. Hope all those riders get better soon. I’ll see you with stage three one tomorrow.

  1. Not the crosswinds are the problem but stupid racers that flock together on the right side of the road while half of the motorway is empty. They should all learn about better cycling and the risks they may face. Back to school boys!

  2. i recall how they banned the Spinaci bars because they allowed the races to be too fast and now they`re blaming the wind for allowing the races to be too slow… i can only wonder what they will think up next?

  3. If your wheel slips off the road, don't countersteer…. Well…if you can help it. I've seen terrible crashes because of this. And I've been in that situation in a race. Luckily, I had the right reflex, kept going in a straight line, and was able to just ride it out on the shoulder.

  4. 😂😂😂 "heavy crosswinds CAUSING crashes…"
You roadies NEVER get it. Omfg. How under educated could one be? Apparently, a lot. 😂 Conditions do NOT Cause. Causation is not derived from ancillary Conditions fozzy bear…🤦‍♂️
The only CAUSATION is the riders INPUTS. Holy fv cking schmoly. Dumb as rocks…

  5. Im so sick of organizers ruining the spectacle of a stage due to a crash. Finish was 90% dry, let them race, count GC gaps, award points. Crashes happen in the wet. Stop making this bad ass sport so soft organizers

  6. This is a swallow roadside in Hungary, Imagine this with 3-4x of this depth ( what is pretty usual in Hungary), even in cars it's a hard to recover.

  7. The wind wasn't the only reason, look at the edge of the other lane 2:32, which is missing a good 20-30 wide section by about 2 meters, this is common in Hungary.

  8. It's been another incredible stage for the Hungarian fans, counting down to the finish with the hope that Janos can grab the GC lead from the breakaway.
6:04 that provisional stage ranking is wildly off…
