Thought that might be helpful for someone else.

I asked AI to help me plan my cycling project for this spring: ride the entire Berlin Wall Trail (160 km), but in digestible ~30 km chunks every weekend.

Instead of spending hours maps applications, the AI split the route into 5 stages—each starting and ending at a train station I can easily reach from Ostkreuz train station. It also gave me Google Maps links and GPX files for Komoot. Took it 10 minutes. Took me none.

I used Chat-GPT with o3 model. The prompt looked like this:

Take this route from Kamoot https://www.komoot.com/collection/713/the-berlin-wall-trail-in-3-stages.
Split it to 5 stages with 30 km each. For every stage define starting and ending point and in a way that it is reachable from the Ostkreuz S-Bahn station. Out of this create 5 routes that could be opened on Google Maps and create GPX files that could be imported to Kamoot

Here’s how the stages look:

Ostkreuz → Schönefeld

Schönefeld → Griebnitzsee

Griebnitzsee → Staaken

Staaken → Hohen Neuendorf

Hohen Neuendorf → Ostkreuz

I’ll be using this setup for future long-distance routes planned for this year. Planning time as well as mental effort was simnifically reduced.

IMO this is asinine and completely antithetical to the ethos and point of bike touring. This is akin to tourists googling “*top 5 places to see in Paris”* and all of them ending in the same crowded beaten-to-death “must-see” boring monuments.
