Received this email from the property management team at my office today. As luck would have it, Friday is my last day here, as I’m leaving for a different job. There’s a few of us in my office who generally ride into the garage and then take our bikes in the elevator up to our floor. They say the bike parking is secure but anyone could just walk in off the street into the gated area without a key or card. So disappointing, but good riddance…

Well, if you weren’t leaving I would have said to take them up on the tour offer, and then point out all the issues you have with the secure parking provided. Given they’ve gone to the trouble to provide it, it may just be that they would listen to feedback.

Ask them what’s the $ limit they’re willing to reimburse if a bike is stolen from their bike parking area.

  3. We have a secure parking garage and theft still happens.

As a renter, one might have better luck in a building of condos with some rentable units. The condo owners own the building and make the rules. If the people living there don’t like the rules, they can change them.

If they feel the need to say it is “secure” then you know it is most definitely NOT secure.

  5. One of my bikes was stolen from a secure bike room that only residents had the code too…
