second day in Italy after the Albanian start. Stage five of the Jed Italia and the shortest road stage so far. 150 km and one that would take the riders from Chelia Mesapeika all the way up to the stunning city of Matera in one of Italy’s lesserknown regions in Basilicata. the Maya Roza Mar Person starting the day with just a 7-second lead over Primo Zhoglich, but on paper a stage that should favor him more than most. He’d been beaten in the sprint the day before. Could this be the day to win stage number three so far? Couple of intermediate sprints coming before the Red Bull kilometer. Again, uphill this one. And then towards the end, the stage gets lumpy. Matiraa, a living film set, once described as the shame of Italy, now a jewel in the region’s crown. 1,500 meters of climbing along the way. And at the start, there wasn’t much fight for a breakaway. Jose Epis of Ara, young Italian rider on the French team, first year professional going with Lorenzo Millesi and David Device, a former winner of a stage over at the Juralia up at Grand Saso. So, three Italians and they were given a maximum gap of around 2 and 1/2 minutes controlled well by one soul rider, Jakoboska of Little Trek, already putting out the idea of what they were looking to do. The intermediate sprints were well contested. AP winning the first behind the remaining points mopped up really impressively by Mars Pearson. Only four points available at this moment, but they all count towards the Malia Clamino. He was in charge of that competition by the way, despite the fact that the jersey was on the back of a competitor in the shape of Olaf Koi. He was just looking after it. the gap at 2 minutes with 82 km to go. The next sprint and it was the same result. They weren’t sharing it out. They weren’t all happy together. He’s taking it once more. More of a challenge this time for Mars Pearson. Jensen Plite looking to take it. But guess who took it on the line? So strong. The man in pink. Yet again, no points for Olaf Koi. There was a moment on the road. Thankfully, nothing major doing in terms of injury for the two riders involved. Miley and Pinarel going down and the gap at 1 minute heading to the Red Bull sprint. And well, you don’t mean me to explain exactly what happened. It was the same result. Millesi nowhere near and getting the better of Bais. Those who lost out decided to work over Epis almost bullying him out of the breakaway. That was that for the young Italian and the two up front managed to get the gap again over 2 minutes. It was just below that mark with 30ks to go going up Montescaloo and then it would be reduced as the pressure was on behind. Many of the thicker le sprinters deciding to let go. Not able to hack the pace put on by Jay Vine. They included Sam Bennett and Koi. Others would hang on and fight their way back on over the top though. And something was taken by the breakaway that wasn’t belonging to Yosu Airpis. They were the king of the mountains points going to Mazi. Casper Fenudin stage winner on day four was being dropped as well. And the gap was just a minute at the top of the climb. UA then started to take it up. You wonder what they might be planning. Was it a day for Isak del Toro Juan Yuso? The break was brought back with 13 kilometers to go and then the GC teams started to fight for position. A couple of steep ramps in the final 3 kilometers were making it interesting but yet again not involved while Fernat still struggling. Primosglitch came to the front at the start of the steepest of those ramps. He gave it a little nudge, just kept it strong out and then Vatzek controlled the rest. So impressive the white jersey. The best young rider in the race acting with an old experience head. The legs were there as well as Mars Person, his teammate, was just slipping and sliding going into the final 2 km, but he was back where he needed to be as the race was in the last K. the steepest ramps out of the way but still going uphill to the line. A few more twists and turns. The bends were making it difficult too. Picnic Posanel were there with P and Baldi. But once more Matias Fatk doing the job of champions. Pick on the right as well. But it’s the man in pink who goes. He’s looking for a hattick. It’s Mars Pendison who’s strong. He’s staying strong. He put pen to paper on a new deal, but it’s Mar Pison going all the way. Peacock tries to get around. Pison still showing strength. It’s herness to the line. Mar Pison there coming around on the far side though, making it a photo finish. You are sure. Yeah, they say I think so. They say yes. Yes. The photo finish didn’t need too much examination. Person the winner. Chic corner telling him so. And that was the big moment. Person hanging on. Zambanini was coming around the far side surprising everybody from Bahrain. He was there in second place with Pigcock in third. Three wins in five days for mass person. No, Dane has won more in the history of professional cycling in terms of numbers of wins. On top of the podium again, what agility tally it’s proving to be for Leel Trek. What an exceptional race for Mars Pearson. Three stage wins in 5 days and with those bonus seconds at the end, he increases his lead in the overall general classification. Another day at the Jedi Italia. More controlled this time. It’s a long day at the Jedi Italia on day six. The longest stage of the race in fact on the way to Napoli into Campa but through the hills. Couple of mountains to take on as well. In fact, early intermediate sprints. Red Bull kilometer coming very late on indeed the final third of the stage. and into Napoli. Yet another finish in the Bay of Naples. It’s hilly at the start, flatter towards the end. You can watch it with us on TNT Sports.

It's a shame that Mads is often overshadowed by Pogi and MvdP, but I'm glad he fully seizes his moments when he can. What a rider.
6:30 perfect pronunciation from a non danish speaker, very impressive
They look silly as hell with the tall ass white socks !!!!!!🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
Mads is amazing. What a rider
I don't know, it feels as though without Pogacar it's not the same. Like it's missing the cream, tarnishes Mads performance's a bit. Almost as if without the best in the world, who cares? It also undermines the tournament as a whole. If more and more of the heavyweights keep opting to miss the Giro then it devalues the event. I'm much less interested given that Poggy and MVDP aren't there.
El giro sin montañas vale 0.
Mads has won 3 stages, and Primos is only 17 seconds behind him in the standings.
Take a bow Mathias Vacek, take a bow! What a hero!
Any chance of Trek bikes on Lidl special buy?
Mads is gradually taking Wout's place in the Big 6
They better bust out Mads' contract now.
Lidl-trek are an absolutely class team. Really have contributors in every role and work as a true collective
Thanks TNT for ruining cycling for the uk public robbing bastards.
kom nu dansker mads p
I like that Pedersen holds a straight line. He's a very clean sprinter. I'm sure he's popular in the peloton.
It is expensive to watch the peloton poodle along then sprint the last 300m. Dull bike racing is back. I guess we were spoilt in the classics with Pogocar, Mads and MVDP acutely racing.
Mads Pedersen Superstar !!!
Mads Pedersen is good at sprinting 😂
Terbaik lah Primo
How is Pidcock so far behind? Geez Tom, come on.
#madsroubaix2026
