Passing through Eastwood, Hucknall and returning though Goatham.

Okay, so uh we’re out on another trip. This time taking advantage of the really good weather out going between Derby and Nottingham to stay at my daughter’s house. So we’ve just come uh northwest out of Derby up the uh Greenway heading towards uh Eastwood and then around the top of Hook to get to Nottingham. So today we’re doing 37 and a half miles. Um little bit up and down, not too bad. And then tomorrow we’ll be coming back a different way around the bottom of Nottingham back to Derby. So it should be good. Can’t see my glasses misted up. Just gone through West Allen. So we went through Stanley West Allen heading towards Shipley Park now. uh which is on the edge of Darbisha and a fancy sign looking towards Ilkiston Chip Park used to be home to the American adventure. We’re just taking a break on the area canal. Some bits of it are very scenic. Not all of it though. Brenley vioideuct over there. That was the train line that we were on earlier. Effectively going to Ilkiston. We’re going this way eastward. Just over there you can see uh Boil Priary. It’s now a cafe. We’re crossing over the motorway now. N one. This is looking south. This is us going away from Bale and eastward heading towards Hypno. That’s our next stop. And the weather’s deteriorated. It’s a bit cool, but it’s uh hopefully not going to rain. [Music] Stopped for lunch in Limbi for a sandwich. Next stop is Papa Wick Pumping Station for a coffee, says Dawn. So, this is Papa Wick pumping station, but it’s closed today on the bank holiday weekend. Can you believe it? Well, after the disappointment of the cafe being shut at Papit, we found a little um horse box cafe thing in the Sherwood Forest. God. So, just been through Calverton. Next stop, Lambling through its dumbs. The weather is getting worse and worse. Passing through a golf course now. Don’t try to keep up with these people. Just came out of Calvert and past this golf course. Suddenly feel really weak. Don’s very kindly giving me a biscuit. Thank you, Don. Trying to work out if that was a a bad hill or I think it’s cuz I was expecting to have a cake somewhere on the ride to coffee shop, but we failed. Emily, our daughter’s got something in for when we get there. Right. Okay. Who else eats a tangerine with skin on as well? It’s very nice. I think it’s weird. It was a killer. Right on the edge now of the countryside to Nottingham heading towards Gdling Country Park. What a brilliant route into a cycle path. Struggled with that one, didn’t we? Get around that. Just as we’re about to finish the route into Gdling Country Park and the sun’s come out. [Music] Something [Music] else. This is a river Trent. Now we got to get across. We cross it at Gunth Bridge. This is Gunfort Bridge. About the only place around here to cross the river. It’s quite a main road, but I think there’s a foot path on it. How you feeling today, Dawn? We’re going back along the river bank the other side. Yeah, across the uh Trent Valley there. Nice and green countryside. That’s looking towards Nottingham. must be Gdling Country Park. So, we’re on a bit of a detour because the uh railway line over there, we couldn’t get on. It’s closed. Trying to get to Cockgrave Country Park. So, we’ll carry on down here and hopefully this will lead to it. What can is it? I think it was amazing. Heading towards Kworth now. That’s where we’re going to get our lunch. We’re in Go now or Gotham. It’s a monument to the legend of Goen. Just coming out of Goen seeing the sheep in the newborn lands. That’s the view. That’s the view looking back towards Goen. We’re at the top of the hill now. Last big hill, Don. Last big hill. Yeah. We’ll love to see over that side in a second. That must be looking north. If that’s towards Derby or not, we’re getting closer. More sheep north to the Weavers, Heights of Al Abraham, Alport Heights, Crutch Memorial. It’s all there. Slight detour. Went too high. Should have been on this path here. The rain clouds are coming. Shouldn’t rain though. [Music] [Music] [Music] starting to make really good time. Now we’re at uh East Midlands Parkway train station next to the big power station which I think is uh um out of commission now. The weather is still not raining on us yet, but uh yeah, next stop. I don’t know. I don’t know where we go next. We’ll see. Left the uh main road behind near the motorway and now heading on this quiet country lane towards Sorley. more sheep. This is where the uh canal and the river Trent meet and also the motorway, the M1. We go onto the M1 here and soon we’ll be crossing back over the river on that bridge that’s just there, the River Trent. [Music] Crossing back over the river. The river trend. Starting to get back into familiar grounds. Not quite just yet. So, just at the mouth of the river Derwent where it meets the trend. It’s just there. This is the uh River Darwin. goes all the way up to hope. We’re at Shardau now. Sun’s out there. Got a long bit of a canal stretch now. Dawn’s really looking forward to it’s a lovely smooth path like a motor. Here we are at Shardland. going to stop here and just have a look. So, we’re back on the canal path that we know coming from Melbourne. Melbourne’s that way. We often do this bit to uh back in the Shire. It’s half 3 in the afternoon. About 7 miles more to do. Nearly back now. Got about 3 4 miles left. We come to 48 milesi in total. Uh so uh we’re back in the derby. Not far now. D’s enjoyed it. I think she’s uh reached the limit though, but it’s good training for good training for our next ride. So, uh we’ll see you on the next video. Bye.
