      I am French, France is an old country with 36,000 villages and towns with a town hall, all these villages date from before the French Revolution, the vast majority are very well concerned especially in city centers because there are very strict regulations (urban planning rules) for the renovation of buildings or in new construction in the outskirts (building permits validated by the mayor of each city). But it is true there are also architectural horrors that were built after the war for 40 years because of the demographic needs in France. But the French are very attached to their heritage that was bequeathed by our ancestors, so we are lucky to have thousands of very well preserved villages that are really different in function of each region of France
