  1. This is on the inner side of the leg slightly below the knee on both sides

Yes! It’s hitting the frame. I only get this on my right leg based on how I ride. It’s a normal thing.

You presumably hit the frame. Were you primarily standing or sitting? You might consider raising the seat

    Time for knee pads!

I wear Fox Launch D30 for a few reasons, one being they have padding right where your bruises are. I had to purchase some G-form, when I showed up to a shuttle day without knee pads. I kept feeling my knees bang on the bike. It was quite unpleasant.

The G-form did not have inner knee pads, and I found out very quickly. I’ve never worn them since. For my case, they are borderline useless. I haven’t tested them in a crash.

I pedal all day in the Fox Launch D30, and have never been injured in even the most gnarly of my crashes. Even crashes that cracked helmets…

Only when I messed up on a rough section and the bike was harder to control would I get hurt like that.

Normal otherwise? Not for me. Be rare for it to happen.

Yup! I wear the super low-profile knee pads to help with this. If I’m just cruising around the neighborhood, I don’t wear them, but I get a bit more aggressive trail riding and the pads help prevent this (plus fall protection is nice).
