Who will win?? A $200 Kent Trouvaille mountain bike from Walmart, or a $600 Trek Marlin 5 Gen 2 from a local bike shop? The Trouvaille has a surprising amount of quality parts on it like a 1×9 microshift drivetrain, tapered head tube, internal dropper post routing, decent suspension fork with a lockout, and much more!

  1. Marlins are overpriced Bike Shop jewelry to fool newbies into buying a "nice bike", only to realize that you'd spend as much to upgrade it into a CAPABLE mountain bike, as just buying a whole nother new bike, which they hope you'll also buy from them 💯 Save a few hundred more and buy a real bike 👍

  2. Both of these bikes are budget bikes. One is just a known quality you can trust. If you go with a Trek you have to get out of Marlins and hop into Roscoe hardtails or into a dual suspension frame for comparisons to matter.

  3. I will stick with my medium size 27.5 trek roscoe 8 bought in 2019 .it's 6.yrs old had a few nasty wash outs but never broke a damn thing . Just replaced chains and disk brake pads .and yes the seat is a dropper ……worth every penny. Dumped the 8 by 2 "maxis for 6 by 2 " maxis ardent race tires.she never let me down and sure she never will

  4. Bro longevity is most definitely going to trek Nishiki was and I repeat back in the 90s was a decent bike now it’s a department store bike. You can run your lil test anyone with common mtb knowledge knows the trek will smoke this in the right riders hands.I love you guy think y’all know it all

  5. My 400 dollar Rockrider XC 403 is better than the trek it has shimano Alivio 2×9 drivetrain with shimano hubs and shimano mt 200 hydraulic brakes with Sr Suntour XCM 120mm Suspension

  6. So the Walmart bike is probably best for 95% of people who are just going to be riding the bike on the ground and not trying to fly through the air with it
