Hello and thank you to everyone who commented on my last post, thanks to you I managed to fix my brakes. I am trying to adjust the derailleur, because the bike wont shift properly, I am having trouble following a tutorial, because the rear jockey does what its doing in the video on some gear, while not on others. I go to a different gear and it gets worse a bit into the video. Thank you

Why does this jockey do this?

  1. What’s up with that mangled piece of metal hanging off the end of the cage?

  2. That derailleur cage has seen some shit. Not saying that’s the cause of your problems. But if it is fucked, then replacing it is the first step.

Can’t really tell from the angle but your hanger actually looks like it’s bent and the teeth on the jockey wheel are hitting the side of the chain instead of being seated between the links.

  4. Originally was thinking the chain has a tight link ( or more)…

looking at what is going on with the pulley cage ( looks like the center tab has been bent up, plus, as mentioned, the back of the cage is messed up)
We have to know… did you bend tabs out if the way when you installed the chain?

I’ll assume the jockey wheels don’t align properly, or the jockey wheel is warped (which can easily happen on cheap derailleurs, when the chain jams)

When I see red plastic jockey wheels, I see a flimsy, disposable derailleur that has the structural integrity of cheese

for the cost of that level of rear derailleur, I’d replace it…( go up a level or two while you’re at it)

That thing is toast. You’d be wasting your time , just replace it problem solved
