I brought my bike and the lock to the shop to get a bike lock holder fitted. It’s a small sized bicycle frame, and they managed to fit this in. It’s a bit awkward to take in and out which I think is fine. But I’ve noticed that the corner of the lock is causing damage to the frame (it’s damaging the sticker so far). Is this okay to continue using? It really was the only available mount for this lock.

The only risk you run is that it rubs and scratches your paint but it is safe. My bigger concern would be in that lock could rotate and twist out of the frame but if it feel solid, I would be fine with that personally.

  2. No, not ok. Not only will it be annoying, it will probably dent the frame after some time. Shop was lazy providing you with this solution.

Just to point out that your problem is going to be that you are using a bracket and clamp not designed for that lock. The bracket you are trying to use should clamp directly to the metal of the shackle, not the rubber over the shackle and definitely not the electric tape over the rubber over the shackle. This will allow the lock to move on the bike and possible twist into your pedal stroke.

Also the clamp you are using is not an ABUS clamp but a Kryptonite one. Reach out to your local ABUS office and they can help get the right one.

put a rubber bumper on the lock or a stip of helicopter tape on the seat tube.

  5. Depends if you care how the frame looks – it’ll rub through the paint pretty quickly but it’ll be a long time before it could affect anything structural

  6. No, not really something you want to do. Put some tape on the bike and or lock.
