Hi, friends. I bought this bike in Portugal last year to do some coastal routes. It cost 80 euro and gave me around 800km of happiness that week. Good stuff.
I think it has glued-on 20 something tires. Not ideal, so I'm looking to replace the wheels. This groupset I think is 2×7 sunrace or similar. I only have this one picture of the hub, idk if it's a cassette or freewheel, if that's IDable with these pics.
Would it be better to 1) keep the hub and build a new wheel around it, 2) replace the hub with the one on a new wheel (if possible) or 3) change the whole groupset for something with more options?
Also, recommendations on compatible wheel/hub models?
Cheers!

I only see six cogs, so it’s a freewheel. None of your options are great; how you proceed depends entirely on how much money you want to throw at it. If the tires turn out to be clinchers, I’d replace them and be done with it.
Doing the work myself I’d just change the rims and probably the spokes.
But it’s really dependent on your budget and who’s doing the work.
You enjoyed the bike as it is so there’s no compelling reason to spend more time and money… unless you want to!
I’ve always replaced the whole wheels on old steel bikes with more modern ones. Even if the hub/cassette is wider, you can easily widen the space (on a steel frame) to make it fit. You won’t be able to use the whole gear rage with your derailleur but you can set it ignoring the last one or two gears. I’m talking 8-9 speed cassette. Buying a second hand good quality pair of wheels for regular tires and with already a cassette on it and then adapting the frame and setting the derailleur is probably the cheapest and easiest solution and will improve the ride quality a lot!
