I was disappointed with the Brompton backpack options out there. They usually compromise on comfort, I’m not a fan of having the luggage frame rubbing against my back.

So I strapped a luggage frame to the front of my old North Face Fuse Box backpack and it’s exactly what I wanted.
• Super comfortable (it’s just a backpack, no luggage frame against your back)
• Fits under my low bars
• Carries a lot, it’s a 26 litre backpack
• Stands upright on the ground
• Backpack straps stay out of the way when mounted
• luggage frame comes off with the backpack so the folded bike is kept light and small

If you’re thinking of DIYing your own, make sure to:
• Use a backpack with molle straps on the front (to attach the frame)
• Have some way to pull the bottom of the laptop side toward the bottom of the frame so the bag doesn’t collapse when mounted (4th image)
• Use a backpack with a boxier silhouette
