Hello,
Looking to get some thoughts regarding these two bikes that I like for possibly commuting to school!
I would also like it to make small commutes around my neighborhood, which does have a lot of hills. I would prefer for it be able to navigate them, but if I need to get off to walk that’s okay too.
My budget is $500, which I know isn’t a lot for a bike but I’m a poor college student:(
If you have other recommendations let me know!!

Assuming the FX2 fits you (check Trek’s website for sizing) and is in decent shape, I’d go for that bike. Hybrids are meant to be general “do all” bikes and they are often perfect for commuting. Save the 400 bucks, put it towards a helmet and lock (and lights if you’re planning on using it during dusk/night/dawn hours) and enjoy it!
I second the FX2. Something like that will make a good commuter bike. Very low price. Give it a good inspection and make sure it’s not stolen.
