Any help is greatly appreciated. It's getting warm up here in the mountains and my son just turned 1. It hurts my heart not being able to take him out for a cruise.
Burley makes thru axles that have threads that come out at the end to allow you to bolt on their trailer hitches. Ran one on my Lynskey Fatskey for years.
Actually I also have one that fits 12×148 if that’s helpful for you? PM me.

Fwiw my friends who have kids have really enjoyed the seats the mount up front on the top tube. There are a bunch of different styles for different ages of kid, but having your child up between your arms where you can see them and talk to them seems to me much more enjoyable than sticking them way out back in a trailer.

1 is old enough to use a bike mounted seat. Less faff than a trailer, a more exciting ride for your boy and they’ll get a better view of the mountains from up there to.
My kids really liked the hamax siesta, which has a very useful reclining feature as kids often fall asleep on rides. Though there are many other good options.

Look at Robert Axle Project for adapter-type axles to make it work.
Thule or Robert axle project axles.
Have you tried a Burley or Robert Axle Project thru axle for trailers?
