Lester Ecycles is a really exciting scheme here in Leicester um delivered by Leicester City Council. It’s going to give the opportunity for our residents to hire a top of the range ecycle for free for 4 weeks. Scheme um aims to encourage people to take up cycling for regular trips and also to swap out short car journeys. We know that 61% of car journeys in this country are 5 mi or less and that’s a distance that’s easily coverable on an ecycle. So we’re going to have about 100 ecycle loans available every month for people. Um people who take part in the scheme who sign up for a travel diary highlighting the journeys they’ve made using the ecycles will also qualify for a discount voucher worth £300 off the cost of a new ecycle if people go forward to buy one. Um people to take part in the scheme will also qualify for a free um six-month membership of Cycling UK. We’ve got a wide range of ecycles available for this scheme from folding bikes to step through bikes. All of them designed to make your riding experience comfortable and enjoyable. Couldn’t be easier to book one of our ecycles. Um you must be a Leicester City resident and have an active Leicester account. You can sign up for an account for free on the Active Leester website. Once you’re registered, you can book an ecycle then through the online booking platform on the active Leicester website. Please allow two weeks though from booking to picking up your bike and the bike must be picked up from the bike park at Town Hall Square. We are delighted to be launching the Lester Recycles loan scheme with funding from Active Travel England. This new scheme will be completely free. It offers people a chance to try before you buy. It is also a great way to explore the city by bike. Our aim is to encourage more people to discover the benefits of cycling. We want to inspire them to swap some of their car journeys for healthier, more sustainable bike rides. [Music]
