I’m a long time bike rider but have never owned a road bike, just hybrids and hardtails. I want to try a cheap but decent road bike and want to keep a spare bike at my gfs to ride some of the paved trails by her place. I’ve been tempted by the Walmart Ozark Trail gravel bike but I see a lot of people saying buying a decent used bike is a much better option. To those with road bike experience, does this Felt F60 superlite with a 52cm frame for $260 seem like a decent used option? the seller has other bikes for sale so I get the impression that he is someone who restores/flips older bikes which means hopefully it would be running well and everything. He mentions its for shorter riders, I’m 5’7 and from what I see online a 52cm frame falls within my height (I could be wrong about this though since road bike sizing is new to me.) thanks for any info

  1. I’m 5’8 and I ride size 51 frames. If you have a normal torso to inseam ratio, you could probably ride a 47 to 50, just make sure you train yourself on avoiding toe overlap with the front wheel, as smaller frames get the front wheel closer to your toes when taking a slow, sharp corner. If you’re a real cycling fan, you could probably enjoy a more worn-out bike, but if it’s your first time trying road cycling, I would get the best bike I could afford, to avoid being put off by the experience.
