today for Landismo because Mikuel Lander looked like he was in the shape of his life. He’s just signed a contract extension. He went down there and he was in some discomfort. A shocking crash on day one at Veg. Now then the attacks come. Do little Trek Sha have everything they needed keeping control here? Well, I think uh we can see here, you know, just inside the three kilometers to go. They can afford to just slip back a little bit. They still have numbers, but you have to be careful as well not to get crowded out here. Uh but uh we can see there’s a few of them just uh in front of Matt Person and uh I think they still have it in control as long as they can stay in that top 10 places for the moment. Juano over the back of this bunch here. He’s got a couple of teammates in and around him. Paul double was there as well for Jacob Alula. Naido Kintana can see on the left hand side too. Couple of other riders from XDS Astana. They’ve already attacked once. It’s Red Bull Bora Hansrew take it into this corner. 65ks an hour. Another 90° right behind them. 2.2ks to go. A look behind and make sure everybody’s still there on the wheel. And this is where it could get complicated because Person’s team’s done all the team work and all the work, but they still have to be perfectly positioned when it comes into the finale. Sean, as Rogich wasn’t there. That’s why they were looking around and he’s moved up. Yes. Well, they’re all fighting for the positions here as we can see. And you know they’re still going at a real fast rate just you know under the 50 km an hour into this corner but Red Bull you know they have a good position and they just want to you know keep this one in the control but it looks like yeah they’re trying to position him for the sprint as we were talking about earlier. So it’s going to be an interesting one now glitch is he going to really go all out with this little small group and a tiny number of riders in front of him he can do it. Keep your eyes on out as well for Marvi Star. Pitcock has made it left hand side as well. Kapaz is there. Chris Harper, Kuzo, Bernal and Yates Chicorn towards the back there. Franchesco Bato is a Jitter Italia debutant from Anto Mar he’s involved. Fortunato moves up. Diego Ulissi, keep your eyes on him as well. 14 years since his first ever Jid Italia stage win. Coming into the final kilometer now and primaroglich is positioned and ready. Harper moves up left hand side as well to see what he can do. Paul double is with him. Richard Karapas the former Gino winner is there. Roman Baldi Max Pool as well. It’s a strange old group. We thought it might be about the sprinters getting over. Can they do it? Well, not all of them could. Rogich moves to the front. 600 m to go. The left turn about to happen and then it’s uphill towards the finish. They take it up again. They resume control. It’s Vatk who has the corner. On his wheel, poised and ready to go is Mars Pillison. Two wheels behind him though. You can see as it goes uphill, they can see the finish line now. One night is there. The prize here is the first pink jersey. The mayo awaits the winner. We’ve had chaos, drama, crashes, things you want to see, others you don’t. It’s been quite the opening day at the G. All moves up on the wheel as well. It’s Mark Pitton now who launches the sprint on his wheel and ready to go. One for Zato trying to come around. It’s Pison on the left hand side holding it. Pison versus Wat. It’s Pison there. Fat to the line. Oh my word. They’re both to the line. But P celebrates and it’s Pison in pink at the Gala. Drama to the last on the opening stage. Starting in Dur finishing in Fana. Not everybody made it on the same time. I’m afraid that not everybody will finish this, but finishing it off on the day after his team took control, Mar Pillison has taken the opening stage and will wear the pink jersey. It’s Person from Fernat and they were there when it mattered again for that final corner.

What a ride! Madd pads you beauty
Mr. Number 2 did it again
TREK 🇺🇸
The King of Sports. And such gracious competitors. Ever notice that in cycling, there are no Black people (except the guy from Eritrea), Arabs, or Asians?
Amazing finish
Wout "Mr Consistency" Van Aert!!!!
Looks like Wout is on-form, contrary to what was being reported.
Mads 100P
With that sprint, if van aert was the one being lead out them Mads couldn't have beaten him
I really Love this Guy MADs!!!‘
The true Hustler
Wout is slowly getting his form back
Beastly work by Trek today. You knew they weren't messing around when Ciccone took the lead on the last climb, and set a pace hard enough to drop GC riders.
Great job Richie and EF for keeping him safe! Good to see Richie has the legs. This is a good start! How many so called expert out there picked Landa over Richie!
Bring back Eurosport full coverage without paying 😢
How come no good sprinters in the whole giro?
Thanks for not giving away the result in your picture and headline. It’s annoying to not be able to watch it live this year so those highlights really matter!
WVA is the shit, because he's always number 2
What’s carapaz paz doing in the sprint lol
Mystery of iniquity!!! …..
This ain´t no photo finish 😀
wout pipe again c'mon
WvA, always the bridesmaid never the bride…
feel so sorry for Landa
After all the work Lidl-Trek did, he better deliver😊
The Mad One made the difference….
Why is the Giro starting on a Friday?
Phenomenal lead out by Trek well done to Pedersen 👏🏾 Unlucky Wout next time 💪🏾
It's good to see an actual competition and not have a rider or a team dominate everything.
time for INEOS to throw all eggs into the Bernal GC basket?
Thanks for finally not spoiling the results of the race for those without coverage.
MOviestar rider with all due respect, BACK TF OFF WHEN MY BOY IS AROUND
Wout has more second place finishes in grand tours than anyone in the history of cycling.
Albanien sieht nach einer sehr grünen und schönen Stadt aus! Tolle Bilder und Landschaft!
Almost a wheel difference, not really a photo finish…
So proud to have this event here in Albania, this is still surreal to me
For the love of God stop saying 'you know'.
