Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to bikes, so please go easy on me 😅
I know it's super dirty — please don’t judge me! 😅 But aside from that, my bike is making a lot of noise and the pedaling doesn't feel smooth at all. It's also hard to shift gears — something feels off, maybe with the derailleur or the drivetrain in general.

I think it might just need some oil, but I'm not sure. I’ve uploaded a video so you can see and hear what’s going on.

Right now, I’ve stopped riding it because it feels like something could break at any moment.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated!

What's wrong with my bike? (lots of noise, hard to pedal and shift)

Yeah sounds like the hub and also that cassette looks suspect. Fairly inexpensive and easy to replace.

  2. Given that the wheel seems to spin ok and the squeaking happens when turning the cranks, my first suspect would be a very bent drailleur hanger. Possibly also sticky jockey wheels.

  3. yeah it’s probably just a small issue with the derailleur, that noise is probably the chain rubbing against the cage when it shifts, happens when the tension’s off a little, pedaling might feel off cuz the chain probably needs a bit more tension too, don’t bother with oil tho, it just attracts dirt and makes things worse, maybe just check the derailleur and tighten the spokes a bit, shifting should get better over time, don’t worry about it breaking unless you’re doing something crazy it’s pretty hard to break a bike like that

  4. Worn chain, cassette and chainrings and probably rear derailleur. You can usually get these cheaply on Ali express. Is there a Bike Kitchen nearby to help out with fitting the parts?

  5. The pulley wheel is not spinning, try replacing it first since it is the least expensive part to replace
