Hey guys, got my first road bike last year, a 2004 roubaix comp for $550 with shipping/tax included, near immaculate, the previous owner hadnt used it much and kept it mint for most of the past 20 years or so, I love it, and ride it every day it isnt horrific weather-wise. I came across a 2010 trek madone 5.9, also near immaculate, owner wanted either $800, or my roubaix and $200 on top, that seem like a good deal to you guys, good enough of an upgrade? First pic is my roubaix and the rest are the madone. Just tryna find that in between where I don't have to drop $2k on a newer bike but can trade up within reason. Appeciate the help as always guys.🫡

So you’ve got a bike you love and ride a lot, and are considering upgrading to a 15 year old (if not older 🤔) carbon bike with very similar group set around the same age with a lot unknowns? Sure the Trek is nice, but I’d stick with what you’ve got and build your funds for a newer upgrade in future.

If you got the highest performance bike you could afford it wouldn’t be much of an upgrade, the tech hasnt changed that much. Your essentially trading a known for an unknown -$200.

Imo that dura ace crank is gonna be worth quite a bit in the future.

Trek usually has kick ass warranty on OCLV stuff. Usually means higher quality.

At the end of the day somthing new is nice. I would keep your trek though.

What I always reccomend is get 2 bikes and trade around the one you like less so it’s never a downgrade.

Then get a 3rd bike for racing. And maybe a 4th that looks cool but is on the uncomfortable side like a lo pro or somthing…
