Found some corrosion around nipple. I assume Stans sealant work. I used only Stans and Schwalbe sealant which just relabeled Stans. Rims are old Eeaston Haven, UST so no tape needed.
How to cover rusted area and protect it from sealant? Not sure if small piece of tape will hold. Maybe some kind of paint or similar?

Why not just tape the whole rim? Shouldn’t have any drawbacks?
Checked second wheel and found similar corrosion.

I would make sure there is no loose bits with a wire brush or fine grit sand paper and then seal it with a little clear coat.
