I had been on the fence for the last 2 years about getting a gravel bike. As a casual cyclist who rides a Kona Dew Plus, I did my research online and visited a few LBS in the area. I just felt overwhelmed and my knowledge of bikes kept me from pulling the trigger. I was convinced I was destined for a Specialized Diverge E5 Elite. Even after a fitting, it seemed like the E5 was the only bike that a geometry that felt comfortable.

Today, after a haircut, I wandered over to the local shop and found a Cube NuRoad EX. I had read about them previously and loved their backstory, but sort of forgot about them.

Well, after a second fitting and test drive, this bike felt amazing. The colour is Whale n’ Black. (In person, the colour is more of a blue-ish grey.)

I feel silly for admitting I didn’t realize that a medium or large frame is not the same standard across all bikes. The Cube medium is more in between a Specialized 56 & 58.

Picked up some Kona composite pedals as a tribute to my commuter bike.

Opinions and comments welcome. I do plan on upgrading the wheels later on, but not until I’ve gotten in a few rides and adventures. Pretty excited to get out there and start riding.
