Dirt diaries or bayer and trail forks. South Wales Barry sidings trail forks going up there. So many trails. Impressed so far. Look at that. How cool is this tech and flow black gold scary wish me luck. Wow. Let me tell you a story. Hey guys, welcome to the first ever episode of Pin TV Dirt Diaries brought to you by Orbeaya and Trail Forks. We’ve come down to South Wales this weekend and we’re riding a place a friend of ours done loads of digging here. Uh chap called Leon Ross, a real nice guy, real good guy in the community and this place is Barry Sidings. The idea of these videos, we’re going to be bringing you a load of them from all around the country and perhaps in different places of the world, is to showcase trails and showcase also how you can work trail forks. This is the first time I’ve ever used it to find the trails. We’ve been given a list of trails by our friend Leon. Let’s get kitted up and let’s get out on the bike. We’ve uh had a little visit to the lovely cafe here. got fueled up on coffee and uh they’ve also got a little bike shop here so if you run into any problems if you need anything if you need a little bit of tweaking you can go and see them which is perfect and obviously you can go to the cafe afterwards. So for now I’m going to have a look on Trail Forks and try and work out where we start. Also the cakes are really good weren’t they? Not bad looking at it. All the trails are basically over there. Cafe down there and we are heading up here. So I have my tr trusty accomplice here, Nicola. Thank you for using the word accomplice and not assistant. Soon to be on uh or herself. Do we head up for all of them by the looks of these? Yeah. So we could have the option to Do we head up left or right though here? Cuz you look we need to go up there. Oh, cuz this way takes us off out and then ends up at the top over here. But we want to be going up there. So, we’ve just missed the turning. Let’s go. Quick one about Trail Forks. Obviously, it’s an app for your phone. Um, Android or iPhone. Uh, you can get the freebie or you can get like two different prices. I think they go up to like something like £60 a year. I’m actually on the freebie one at the moment. see how that goes. Uh, so you can find the all these trails so many locations around the world with it. I’ve got me little reading glasses in there with me, but I’ve allocated Nicola to be uh, Trail Forks reader today so I don’t have to keep stopping and swapping glasses. Nicola is going down the blues because she’s still suffering a dodgy ankle. And uh so if you check out her vlogs, you can see some of the blue trails here. Looking for a bit of a junction now, which I think must be here. Uh I think the difference in Trail Forks as well when you get like the the posh one, you’ll have all like trail reports and things about closed trails, etc. So apparently left that way is uh there’s a load of black trails and on the right I think you’ve got more sort of blues and reds. So So I’m going right here all the way along here my left in a minute and I’ve seen one that’s on his list called 3G and that’s a red trail. I don’t really want to start on a black trail so I can kind of warm into things if you know what I mean. I’ve worked it out. I’m now actually on a trail called Cold Dump and then I get to a junction in a minute where I will go left and then right and then onto 3G. So, this is a trail. Nice. Looks like one that’s been here a while. Look at that. Where am I going? Nice. Whoa. This is pretty cool. Obviously in the cold situation there’s going to be a lot of Ah, is that it? Is that it? Yeah, that’s it. Cuz it didn’t go anywhere. Lot of coal references because that is the old old thing of what these areas were back in the day. I’ll just get going here. [Music] I’m looking for a junction and I’m turning left then right it no I don’t I might be you know there’s so many trails it’s mental wow so impressed so far for sure first [Music] place right folks we’re now on a trail called 3G G. This is class as a red cuz they don’t dick about when you’re in qual. You’re not going to have a red that’s super easy like in certain [Music] places. Wow, this is cool. Always remember I’m riding all this blind. Oh, nice gap there. Oh, I could have gone for [Music] that. Lovely. Where am I going? Where am I going? Carry on. Yeah, looks like it [Music] does. When you ride these trails blind, you’ve really got to use your head so you don’t try doing something like that. Junction. Let’s have a look. We got two options here. Anyone on trail forks? Cuz I guess it’s really hard for them to keep up with constant trail changes. But when you got things like this, you see this boulder. You see, I could have ridden that. But when you don’t know what you can’t see the other side. Oh, look at that. You have to be careful cuz you know, no one’s with me right now. Nicholas on the blue. I don’t want to mull myself. Wow. Wow. And that’s just a red caught her up. She was literally just down from where I was. What you thinking? You definitely need the app. Yes. Because it started off really obvious where the trail was. Then you get cut offs. Yeah. Yeah. And there was like trees and I was like, were they trails? They run offs. Yeah. Same here. Yeah. Yeah. And I’ve ended up a hell of a lot further down what it should have been. So yeah, I’ve come way off the blue. And is this the end of one of the trails? Should we have a look? Or do you know that’s there’s a trail there and there’s a trail just there. So this is apparently a blue called Handbuilt. We’ve just gone past it and it’s only a short little section sort of on its own. Although there is a top bit there. Let’s ride up to that top bit. Yeah, there is a little top bit. Let’s go and do that. We are actually heading up to the blue, the highest blue and try and get a couple of different blues in. I’m absolutely blown away how big this place is and just how many trails there are here. It’s unbelievable. So, we just realized we were actually coming up a blue trail. Luckily, there was no one going down it. Right. So, we’ve got the top of two blues. And if you go straight, you go into a black that’s meant to be the scariest one here called Scary Mary, which I might do in a bit. Depending on how I feel, but for now, I’m going to do the blue, which is called Charlie horse. Charlie horse, I think. So, if any of you watching this, a local and I’m talking crap. So, that’s a blue. That was a tough corner. Wow. That’s a hard corner. That’s definitely not a blue corner. This is the scary Mary trail cuz it takes you straight underneath. This is not the blue. Ah, right. I might just carry on. Wow. Right. Or even left. So, we are down the right bit, I think. And then I don’t think it’s that left. I think it’s this left. Okay. Try and get some bloody pace on. Nice. Yeah, this is very more like bluish. Might have been whole different ball game in the wet, I reckon. Right now we’re talking. We got a little trail on the right here that I went past before. And I think this will take us up to hopefully find that freshy. [Music] This is where that race motor just pulls you up. Absolutely no problem. So, we’re riding totally blind now. Leon is actually at the shop. So, he said, “Do you want to come and have a brew?” Um, I have no idea where I’m going now. This is good. Now whether I’ll find the freshy, but this feels really good. Yo. Wow. How cool is [Music] this? Nice. Lovely. All right, another one here that’s undisclosed name. Let’s hit it. Nice. Whoa. My god. That’s right. Wasn’t ready for that. So many nice little slabby rocks here and there. So they made the most out of this is one we got to before that is literally called trail. I think it’s a black. Oh my god. You see why it’s a black? Can we get to the ah it’s just it’s just like a river dried up river bed. So we’re just trying to actually find how to get back to the cafe. Right now we’ve caught up with the man Leon Russ. Uh so fair place on them trails are definitely um they definitely wake you up a bit. Yeah, there’s some a mix of like reds and blacks but yeah steep tech and flow. That’s what we aim to kind of create. So, you’re not the only trail builder here. Who else have we got? Well, we’ve got a number of different guys who come here, some locals. We’ve got Franco. He does quite a lot of work here. We’ve got D Turner. And then you’ve got Griff, which is like he’s lives across the road here. So, it’s pretty much more local to him than anybody. Right. Sound. So, we’ll have a brew and then I’ll go and see if we can brew sounds good to me. Scare yourself a little bit more. Yeah. Scare me. Right. Right, we’ve been out of coffee and uh Leon has come up with us. There’s some over the back here in it from when I last maybe Ross one. This one Ross one. Ross one. Ross one. So this one is a very unused trail, should we say? Yeah. One Leon did years ago. Let’s see what we got here. left there. Wa, right. Oh, there’s the big drop. A should have done that. Usual story. That’s nice. Try and follow you. Try famous last words. Ooh. Nice. Nice, isn’t it? I like that. That’s been a lot. That’s literally the best bit of riding I’ve done all day. Fast, isn’t it? Yeah. We got It goes all the way down here to that little brown fence where you took a left on the way up. It takes you all down to there and you can actually ride to the car trail. We climb up what is here here known as killer hill. Let’s do it. Killer on a regular bike. It’s exit plan then black gold. So when it gets to a fork, it goes left. Go. Okay. Nice Maybe not. Who knows? Maybe the left’s gone. Wow. That’s great. That is Let’s go. Bit more black gold. Nice. Whoa. This is tight through here. Oh, that’s nice. That is Yeah. Yo. Wow. This is all on like cold dusty type stuff from the mining days. Wow. Right there. Yeah. That one bit the the like little drop had fallen apart. Yeah. Yeah. Where the little bits of wood were. You just got to pull on it a bit. Yeah. Over there. You jump over a bar. Really? Yeah. It’s good fun. Right. Let’s head down towards the cafe. She wet. Jesus Christ. He’s so fast. Oh, the ball there. sit up and come quick down there. Jesus Christ. [Music] Thanks a lot. Right, guys, this one’s called Scary Mary. According to a few locals we spoke to today, this is the scariest, gnarliest one. So, wish me luck. Big boulders aoy. Wow. Wow. I think it goes straight on here. Come down here. Oh god. Let my eyes get used to the light. Where is it? Where are we going? Is it down here? Guessing so. it. Well, it I’m going to be it. All right, that’s it. Yep. So, it’s definitely rocky. Wow. Yeah. Not bad so far, but that’s definitely going to be famous last word, isn’t it? Wow. That’s all right, actually. Nowhere near as bad as it was hyped up to be. Does it carry on? I think that must be it. Right, guys. I hope you enjoyed this video. Thank you for Ora and for Trail Forks for sponsoring these videos. Uh there’s loads more to come different places all around the UK. 1. It's definitely not a place when it's wet through, there's one trail there that does down into coal slurry with a big tree root on the right hand side which had me off😬
