[Ep. 1063] The F2 cycle route from ‘s-Hertogenbosch to Zaltbommel in the Netherlands is under reconstruction. From last summer to this spring the route has been changed significantly in the municipality of Zaltbommel, as can be seen in this before and after!

I really hope in 30 years this is really the standard everywhere in the country. Have you noticed dijk roads aren't very friendly to bikes even though that's often the only way to bike in and out? Anyone have ideas as to why?
And not in a city centre. Also the weather is not always sunny in the Netherlands. If it has to be sunny to cycle LA city proper, Santa Monica, Long Beach and Miami on the other side of the US should give Dutch cities competition.
It is pretty much as good as it gets. Makes the end of the new path at 7:08 is a bit rough though.
Would be fun to see infrastructure like this on commute hours, to get a feel for the throughput.
Tire pressure and a range of gears pays off with this surface.
So many scooters riding in bike lanes… Are they allowed to do that in the Netherlands?
I remember cycling on the old path last year in September iirc. Did see some parts getting worked on and closed off.

00:06 Noisy and smelly scooters are dangerous mode of transport on bicycle paths.
Electric transport that appears unexpectedly from out of nowhere is also no less dangerous for bicycles and pedestrians.
Strange how the space-restricted Netherlands always seem to find the space for bike paths, but in the "everything is bigger here" country there never seems to be the space for even a bicycle gutter.

Toevallig vorige week nog gefietst. Dacht een klein stukje te gaan rijden richting Zaltbommel en dan een afslag te nemen naar Velddriel. Maar het ging zo makkelijk dat ik uiteindelijk naar Zaltbommel ben gereden. Een uurtje fietsen werden er twee en bijna 40 km.😵
3:40 were the bollards just to slow down the motor vehicles? No need to have them no more?
That red asphalt is a really great surface. Too bad about the motorbikes, though.
Riding abicycle next to a highway is not fun. I kind of think that we should be building bicycle infrastructure outside of cities away from fast moving cars. The noise is so bad, EVs don't change anything abouth the noise – they might even make it louder because of the weight.
As soon as the segregated cycle track ends a car driver does a fast close pass. (I realise this will be avoidable in the future.)
How does the street work? Is this both for vehicles and cyclist?

Het is opvallend hoeveel fijner straten en wegen eruitzien als er bomen langs staan. Wie stemt op mij als ik de Bomen Langs Alle Wegen partij opricht? (De BLAW)
Oh I used to live there 30 years ago! It was just a "polderweg" then. I used to sneak from that road onto the parking space of De Lucht restaurant straight on to the A2. Don't think that is still possible now.
I got goosebumps seeing it again.
