I’m in the market for a new DH bike. I have a few in mind but curious what you all thought. Looking to spend around $4000. Mainly looking for fun bike park days. Not really interested in racing. Really want to buy the Marin but worried about the 180mm rear travel instead of a true DH bike having 200mm.
My top picks
-Marin quake

-yt Tues core 2

Well you pick some great options here. The Tues is my tried and true favorite but that Colossus seems to impressing a lot of people. I’m a big fan of propain but no experience on their DH bikes. I have no option on the Marin other than what you stated. I think all these options are pretty good.
I have a Tues and it has been great. I haven’t ridden any other dh bikes but it has been really fun.
It’s the Polygon or Marin for me
If you are looking for under 4k I’d go for the Polygon. I’d check out the TR11 from Transition if you are willing to spend mid 4k.
I also own an evil insurgent that I ride at the bike park too. So with that I have a somewhat playful enduro/dh bike. Would maybe lean more towards a full dh bike like the yt or polygon?
It maybe Thursday but it’s Tues for me!
Commencal supreme for a few hundred more
Edit: OP, I have a Rocky park slayer 30 that’s 200mm/180mm and it works great at everything in the parks I’ve been to, including big chunk, drops, and jumps. I don’t race it or do DH outside parks though
Easily the Tues — I’d imagine most pro riders would ride YT if they didn’t have sponsors — based upon how many ride it at the Green River Classic.
tues or the polygon
Build a Spindrift AL Park $3450 –
Add –
Magura MT5 – $150
Tubeless kit -$40
Bashguard/chainguard – $75
Shipping $100
Swap in a Charger 3.1 damper $358
$4173 for and incredibly capable & fun DH shred sled.
Tues or Rage easy
My input on the matter is that 180mm rear travel is absolutely enough for fun bike park days.
Don’t forget the ari DH bike. As far as mass market DH bikes go, that’s probably the best geometry wise for a fun DH bike.
Im planning on getting a quake next season as a “fun” park bike . Because you can buy it as frame only and run full 27.5 – can switch most stuff over from my clash then maybe do mullet in the future. 180 should be plenty for park riding.

Not a bad cop
Propain or YT easily
