The thing about seats is that the seat i love, someone else hates with a fiery passion. You gotta keep trying them until your butt falls in love. Anyone who says “x seat is the best” is not a serious person.

It’s a personal thing. There is no best seat. That is why there are so many seats on the market. Look around, there are shops you can test seats before you buy. Alternatively, you can come to my house, l have a whole shelf of seats.

I’m partial to selle smp. But they (subjectively) look kind of weird and are (objectively) really expensive. My brother has had success with a wtb volt. Um, sqlabs is also highly praised.
I agree with the others that saddles are definitely a personal thing though, but also there’s a lot of options and “comfort” will end up having a lot to do with your overall fit/ level of fitness. So, good hunting
But yeah, again, look into selle smp. I personally think they look good, but the biggest selling point is they are very easy to fit. Or rather its clear when you don’t have it adjusted properly.

# Expert Explains Why You Can’t Find A Comfortable Saddle
Ask your local bike shop which saddles have some type of comfort guarantee. Try stuff out and give it time. One ride isn’t enough to know for sure, your body needs time to adjust to it. Much like how the first ride after a long winter hurts. Short nose saddles are really popular right now, I always had good luck getting customers on the Specialized Power but no two asses are the same!

Width matters. Saddles come in different widths because human sit bones come in different widths.
The WTB Volt is the most popular saddle ever. Fits a LOT of people and it’s inexpensive. Not a bad place to start. Get the right width and get it set to the right angle.

I hate to say it but the classic brooks without the springs was awesome

It’s very personal. I’ve been riding MTB “properly” for 8 years and haven’t found a perfect saddle. It’s a lot of trying things. Wtb have a decent online measuring tool though

There are a lot of popular cult saddles if you search Reddit. Many of them aren’t even that expensive.
Suggest trying a few cheap options like the Fabric Scoop, WTB Volt, Selle Royal Lata, Charge Spoon, Fizik Antares R7, Nukeproof Horizon Enduro, SDG Bel Air v3, Selle Italia (multiple models). Sell or return the ones you don’t like after.
I tried quite a few and wound up on the SDG Bel Air v3. There are many saddles I can ride comfortably for <3 hours, but when it comes to multiple 15-hour+ bikepacking days, only a few work. And you won’t know until you’ve taken a saddle out for a very long ride.

Volt for short trips. Brooks cadmium for long days in the saddle.

I like ism saddle-less seats. Super good for blood flow 😉 relieves pressure on your perineum
