Friend's front chainring on his Canyon gravel bike decided to break today. He was going up a small hill in San Francisco and it just snapped. Never seen this happen before!
Looking at the teeth looks like it was time for a new one anyway. But yeah that shouldn’t happen, except if your friend pushes 1000W on the small cog uphill. He could probably try contacting canyon, but they will probably do nothing since the chainring looks too worn out

there have been occasional posts every now and then with broken chainrings.
not unexpected tho, with parts getting lighter over the years, kinda bound to happen.
i havent broken any yet, but did bend rear hub on a hill.
