I wanted to mount to mount the Ortlieb quick rack lite to my Grizl 7 CF. The carbon fibre frame does not include mounting holes for a rack. I saw some others float the idea to use a trough axle like the Robert axle project Bob axle and mount the rack to that.
Bought the set which seemed would fit pretty well. I measured the axle nubbins needed a bit of padding to remove some play but that seemed about it.
As it turns out, even though the quick rack lite is rated for up to 29” wheels, the lost height of mounting to the axle leaves too little clearance. I don’t think I’ll risk it as my intend is to ride half paved roads as well (it’s a gravel bike after all).
Does anyone know about another easy to remove rack?

Thanks for sharing. I have the same Grizl and my only critique of the bike is this rack mounting problem. I was also toying with the idea of using a thru axle solution, including the one you tried here. What a bummer. I really don’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on the Tailfin system.
