It’ll be fine. 10k is nothing. Just take it off of put it on correctly.

Install it correctly , and go for another 8 miles, see how it sounds

We all do this from time to time. Undo the quicklink and reroute.

We all did this at least once.

Cage is alu, chain is steel. This means you only scratched the cage. No problem, just reroute and enjoy the silence while pedaling😅

Everyone has done this at least once, right? Eh?
Fix it and forget about it. Lesson learned.

Happens to the best of us, but I’m surprised you didn’t hear or notice a problem as soon as you started riding. Only takes a few minutes to pull out the link pliers and reroute… I keep one in my pack, comes in handy on the trails.

Welcome to the club.
You are not an idiot. You made something on your own and learned something else immediately.
I see this as a big win.
I made this mistake a couple of years ago and I double check this now. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
And now you know why quick link is a thing.

It’s fine. If anything you may have scratched up that part of the derailleur but no big deal at all

so i have actually been trying to figure this out also after having my chain off recently. i can see wear on the inside of the guide so i routed it accordingly but it had a ton of friction it didnt previously have so i routed it the way you have it and it felt fine but looked odd, switched again, still rubbed. i looked at pics of my derailleur obline and swear i saw both configurations. i have had it like you a couple days now and all seems fine🤷♂️ in 41 years this is my first geared/non bmx bike….

Steel is harder than Aluminium. The chain will be fine.

I also rode 10k with a wrong routed chain. Was dissapointed that my chain is so loud after waxing 😂.
I still have this chain on my bike with around 5.000 km now😁
