Fuct. You could hang it on the wall or throw it in the trash. Potentially you could get a carbon repair done but why buy something g to then try and repair it

  2. It’s $100 for the fork and stem, the frame is worthless without professional repair.

  3. Carbon repair can be done but it may be in the hundreds. If this frameset is really good, it *might* be worth the investment.

I’ve had almost the exact thing fixed. $350-ish. 5 year warranty. I raced that frame hard for a few years without issues. There are companies who specialize in this.

For $100? I’d buy it and fix it myself with a diy carbon repair kit. Done it before – it’s an ugly fix, but it’s worked for 3+ years through some rugged use.

I once picked up a guy’s teeth off the ground after his bike broke in half going over a set of train tracks. His frame had been professionally repaired after a top tube crack.

    Don’t do it.

  7. I’d pass on that. No telling from the pictures if it’s just paint damage or something more serious.

  8. I think that’s cheap enough to be worth repair, and an easy spot. Paint can be more brittle than the carbon, so there a chance it only needs an ultrasound.

TLDR: This frame is not trash. It is repairable. Factor the price of a repair into your offer!

I’m not a carbon repair professional, but this looks like very repairable damage in a reasonably low-risk location on the frame. I know of frames with very similar damage (from work stand clamps and tip-over impacts) that were repaired and ridden for years afterward.

Given the cost to repair professionally, I’d opine that $100 is a reasonable offer. Maybe show this photo to a carbon repair specialist to get an idea of cost to confirm this will still meet your budget expectations.

Carbon is easily reparable, that’s a very trivial repair – I’ve seen frames that were in multiple bits fixed up fine. This is one of the advantages of carbon, very easily repaired by a pro. Google, there will be someone local to you who can repair it – even here in tiny New Zealand there are at least 3 companies doing repairs.

Dude buy it and sand the paint away. Sometimes paint cracks and there might not be any actual damage to the carbon.

If there is might be fun to learn how to repair it. The toptube doesn’t experience the same forces as the downtube or chainstays which is why they can be so skinny. Worth a shit imo

It’s actually worth it considering the fork is probably worth more than $100 if you repair this, I’m sure it will be good again too
