I use the middle option, which is a jet boil. Boils one cup of water in a minute, maybe? I love it

What kind of cooking will you be doing? The JetBoil is great if you mostly need hot water like for soup, freeze-dried backpacker meals, or coffee.

The gas stove uses the same fuel as the JetBoil, and seems like it would allow for more compact packing.

I was recently down this same rabbit hole. Though I haven’t yet bought one, I’m leaning toward an alcohol stove because of the availability of fuel, size, weight and the minimal waste. Back in the ’90s when I camped a lot, I used a small coleman stove, similar to one of those rocket stoves with a base that I could fill with gasoline. I really wish I still had that. convenient as hell.

I use a Whisper lite International. They are simple, burn all sorts of fuel, and dependable. We spent three months cycling touring this summer fall and filled the bottles at automobile gas stations. Easy and very inexpensive.
