I did 1075m over 40km a couple weekends ago on gravel and it was brutal. Most elevation and steepest grade of my cycling career so far.

I did a race last week with 1600m of elevation and after the race I rode 250m uphill to see friends that watched my race. Overall 130km.

Edit: I hope you had fun on and after your ride, that’s the most important and that’s why I wanted to meet my friends.

Sorry… Excuse me for being dumb, but are we saying that <800m of climbing over 80km is a lot?

I would say that was a fairly flat ride and I tend to avoid hills like the plague!

    Rivers and railways, ftw!

No escaping the elevation in the Peak District, it’s an unavoidable 300m climb between me and even the slightest hint of gravel. Going back over it at the end of a ride is definitely the worst though. Nothing quite like 3km at 10% gradient on tired legs at the end of the day!

Hahahaha. That’s very flat. It’s impossible for me to ride 80k from my house without at least double that elevation gain. Typical ride for me is 35k and 1200m.

My last 26 mile ride had an elevation change of 14ft… Florida life… BUT the wind is typically 10-15mph with frequent gusts of 15-30mph+ so those are kinda like hills…

I don’t have much elevation but I have Mach fucking Jesus winds. All the time. 35km/hr head wind for 25km yesterday. Fresh graded gravel. Not my fav finish to an 65km day(zone 2 day)

I honestly don’t get the reference to elevation- that would be my flattest ride of the year, any year

Don’t you have mountains up there? Most rides I’ve done in VT have at least 100 ft of up per mile

I used to date a girl in Powasssan. Donna. Nice girl.

    Great ride. All shield?

Had only 150m less at 35km a few days back. 800 on 80 km really ain’t all that much.

That’s not much. Yesterday I did 40 km with 722 m. Most rides around here are about 500-600 m for 40 km. For 80 km I’ll climb well over 1000 m. That’s not stupendous, this isn’t the Rockies (Québec’s Eastern Townships), but for this creaky 66 y.o. that’s plenty!
