I am looking for a bike that I will use for commuting and eventually use in a event (Vätternrundan) 315 km.

What I know of the bike:

Wheels: Champagnolo Shamal

Allegedly, never been crached, never competed with and been used for 50 000km.

Is it worth 1100 eur, are there any questions I should ask? And I am very short 153cm, the seller says he is 162 and think it could work if I swap stems, opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Check if it fits before you ask question about the bike. Apart from that – I think its reaaaally expensive and most likely not the correct bike for commuting and a 315km ride since it’s race oriented and probaby too big for you anyways.

  2. Lol ‘never competed with’, it’s not a car…

Bike is way too expensive, as these older Cervelos often are. Also has all of the issues of an older bike (very skinny tires, very hard gears, long crank arms), and is very likely too big for you, as it was for the current owner. They’ve already put on a zero offset seatpost, have the saddle very low and are using a negative rise (and I’m thinking shorter than original?) stem – this bike can not be adapted for a shorter rider.

Honestly, at 1.1k you’re fairly close in budget to a new Canyon Endurace, and at your height I’d definitely buy a new XXS frame, maybe even consult with a bike fitter to get something that works for you. These old bikes unfortunately weren’t made for anyone but average height or taller men…
