  1. WOW!…I think this could be one of your best vids. The idea of dedicating a full vid to one hill is very good. But it's a brute of a hill and deserves it. We felt every pedal stroke with you. Great as well that you are still able to give us your usual anecdotes and benefit of your experience. That's coincidental by the way, because it was only today that I have put your name forward as a suitable ambassador for Pinnerello. Hope you don't mind! Well, I was in their new shop at wilmslow, and those idiots over there have got all their marketing upside down. They think that by having supposedly trendy YouTubers, with no real substance or experience about them, it will bring in sales. For the demographic who can afford their prices, they need your sort of following. People with means, discretion and taste!! Anyway, when they offer you sponsorship and a new Dogma, can I have your Dolan.

  2. What a great video taking us with you on a trip down memory lane for sure, riding out from Sheffield to ladybower over strines to langsett then Holme moss with snake pass for desert and back to Sheffield- it was a favourite route for many of Sheffields finest riders for decades and to this day still remains β€œThe ring of fire”

Thanks for taking us with you today, brilliant πŸŽ‰

  3. What a climb and great video as always! That left hander as you crossed into Derbyshire and the views opened up … superb! Definitely not a day to be up there with deep section wheels.

  4. Brilliant video, last time I did that Holme moss was March 2000, from Goldthorpe, on my Bianchi, scared me coming down that hill was a fantastic feeling. weather turned bad snow freezing…. was glad to get home.

  5. Another belting vlog Gordon, on the most iconic climb in West Yorkshire to my mind. It’s a strange one as a lot of riders underestimate the climbing which has to be done all the way up to The Fleece @ Holme Village before the official climb even starts.πŸ˜…πŸ˜…. Stay safe mate, and thanks for the shoutout πŸ‘πŸ»

  6. First time i climbed Holme Moss was in 1965 on my newly purchased, second hand Carlton ten speeder, bought with paper round wages. The counties changed at the top between the West Riding and Cheshire and indeed, Black Hill: just behind the mast was Cheshire's highest point. I used to descend the other side and cross the reservoir on the Glossop road which crossed counties again into Derbyshire. After sandwiches on the side of Bleaklow hill I returned home to Wakey the same way. On subsequent rides to this spot i would sometimes return home via Penistone, the Sheffield to Manchester road being much quieter back then. You are right about the gears; My luxury Huret, Benelux gear mechanism probably had something like a 39/26 low gear which made it quite a grind especially as i was around nine stone wet through back then. Great video and another damp=eyed nostalgia trip for me.

  7. Last time I went up Holme Moss a few years ago it was very similar to how your ride looked today. Only when I did eventually get to the top, the wind coming across from the mast side was so strong that I get getting blown into the car park on the left. Took me two attempts to get out!
    Great stuff Gordon.
