My bike (Marlin 5) was bought new in 2023 I’d say I’ve used it a total of 15 times since then :/ now that I’m back to it the brakes are EXTREMELY squeaky. What should I do to fix this issue? The front brake works the best whereas the back brake can be pulled all the way in and still have some roll to it along with a mouse squeak. Any and all advice is appreciated!

Take a look at the pads and see if they’re worn down to around 1-1.5mm. If the back is spongy it might be the pad is worn down. If they are, then replace them – you can find compatible brake pads by searching up the manual for your brakes

It also depends on the pad – metallic pads are louder/squeakier than resin pads, so replacing with resin pads might help.

If they’re hydraulic brakes, they could also probably do with a bleed if you’re just breaking it out for the first time in a while, a shop can do that for you or you can buy a bleed kit + mineral/DOT oil (make sure you get the right type for your brakes).

Go down a generally long trail and brake hard but not enough to stop. Make them heat up and that should burn off the contaminants. If that doesn’t work try taking of the rotors and brake pads. Soak the pads in Brake cleaner fluid and then sand them a bit and put them under a 400° Celsius heat gun. Repeat the same for rotors but be EXTREMELY careful not to bend them. This usually works for me. Best of luck!
