normally you would use cable housing around the cables so they dont touch the bike frame.

that is why the channels are bigger than the cable

It appears to be installed the wrong way around, typically the long arm faces rearwards, and guides the FD cable past the shell.

If the BB shell is oversized, you may need a different guide.

An interim solution is to use housing liner over the cables in the area where they contact the frame.

The bb cable guide has a longer wraparound for the cable going to the front derailleur to prevent rub on the frame there on my old mountain bike.

That cable guide looks like a bit has broken off or a bit subpar. Maybe look for a new one.

Cable will rub through tape in no time flat. The cable guide is a much harder ABS plastic to withstand the rubbing of the cable.

Tape will work fine, but will need to be replaced periodically. You could also a length of cable liner.

  5. Nothing wrong with that one

Well apart from the fact it’s installed incorrectly that is. Needs turning round so the long bit that’s facing forward points backwards and you will probably find it covers the bit where your cable is rubbing the frame.
