Hey, question for the more knowledgeable folks than I.
I recently upgraded my brakes from SRAM DB8 to SLX7120s. They work great but the issue I’m having is the layout. Before there was was no problem with the shifter upshift paddle. Since changing, still upshifts fine but don’t seem to have as much room on the paddle for my finger as before. I switched mounting the shifter to inside the brake but it covered much of the grip and it felt like I was taking my hand off if I wanted to switch to braking so I swapped the position back again. Included pictures to show how little I have of the paddle to get my finger on.
What way do people have theirs mounted?

Swap shifter and brake again and move the brake a lot more to the left
From inside out: brake, shifter, grip

Get the Ispec ev mount and ditch the clamp. What shifter do you have?
I’ve ridden for years and I don’t think I’ve ever use the pull towards shift. Always just push with the thumb, whether down or up. Maybe it just me!
[on shimano levers with 2 contact points on the handlebar the shifter clamp goes between the brake lever mounts](https://si.shimano.com/en/dm/MBDBR01/attach_brake_lever)
here is my setup.. it is somewhat individual, but you should put them so that it is only the index finger that reaches the brake leaver as it is a one finger brake.
try putting the brake behind the gear shifter and see if that works for you

with these brakes, you only use 1 finger on the lever and with this shifter, you mainly operate it by pushing with your thumb on both levers.
