Is the front-block a universal fit with most baskets that have the attachment on the front/back? Like this one for example? If not, is there an easy way to tell, or do I need to buy an "official" Brompton basket? Thanks!
It is a proprietary mechanism, so any compatible basket or bag should specifically call out Brompton, whether it’s made by Brompton or not.

I’m going to agree with Noromame, anything made to fit the front mounting block will usually include “Brompton-compatible” in the description. If it doesn’t then you are taking a chance.

I went with the [Fahrer](https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/luggagebaskets/fahrer-front-basket-for-brompton-aluminium-black/), with two of their Maxi straps, works for shopping trips & when I’m hybrid commuting to the office with a partial car journey, it’s less good when I’m using public transport as it’s awkward to carry, I pinch my daughters Borough basket for that.

Rear baskets are an altogether different beast. Some attach using velcro, some attach using proprietary systems (for example [KLICKFix](https://klickfix.com/en/)). Even if a bag says “compatible with the Brompton rear rack” you need to check if they’re talking about the [Rear Rack](https://us.brompton.com/p/715/brompton-rack-set-complete-incl-4-rollers-and-mudguard-6mm-holes) or the [Advance Roller Rack](https://klickfix.com/en/).
