Hey folks,
I recently bought a used bicycle and it came with a lock. It also has a lock holder that I’ve never seen before and honestly have no idea how to use or attach properly to the bike. I tried figuring it out but no luck so far.
Has anyone seen something like this before or know how it’s supposed to work?
PS: The bike was super cheap, so I’m not really looking to buy a new, expensive lock that might end up costing more than the bike itself.
Thanks in advance!

It looks similar to other accessories I’ve seen that slide into a clip on the underside of the rear of the bike seat.
might be a clip for your belt or your shorts?
That’s a Fischer lock in its default plastic pouch with some weird mounting bracket attached. You can remove it and either screw the pouch to the frame where water bottle cages go or use a couple of velcro straps to wrap around a frame tube.

That’s a cheaper Fischer lock, probably about $40 but decent. If you have an inexpensive bike, it’ll probably serve you well. It is also pretty easily packable. 🔆
That weird bracket is a saddle mounting bracket. Several saddle manufacturers have something like it — fizik and Selle Royal are two of the big ones.
Here, for instance, is the [instruction manual](https://c1.abus.com/var/StorageStatic/assets/WEB%20PDF%20Dateien/Bedienungsanleitungen/Mobile%20Sicherheit/Fahrrad/locks/SR%206055%20C_Manual_web.pdf) of a Bordo folding lock that comes with such a bracket. You can see that the bracket looks almost identical to what you have.
