Raced the expert class at Yankee Springs—22.25 miles and around 1,900 ft of climbing. Lap times were 1:01 and 1:06, pretty on par with past years on the fat bike. Pre-rode the day before which helped in spots but may’ve added a bit of fatigue. The hotel bed and pillows didn’t do me any favors either.
Back started barking early, but the full suspension made the descents way more fun (and less sketchy than the fat bike). Rear brake was basically useless—need to figure that out. Was hoping for a sub-1-hour lap, got close, but not quite.
Fueling was dialed, backpack worked great, and overall it was a solid day. Just left feeling a little unfinished. Not last, but not quite expert-level ready—at least not for Yankee. Maybe next year.
