Damn! That happened to me once. I had to one pedal, walk or coast home. Luckily, I had a front brake at the time for the downhill. Mine broke further down but yeah, that sucks.
I broke a crank once too. When I was a messenger I was stopped at a light and when it turned green I mashed hard and it just snapped. Wasn’t hurt, but it took me out of the rest of my work day.
